Top Ten Authors I Wish Would Write Another Book (In no particular order)
1. Jane Austen - I love her work. Pride and Prejudice? Enough said.
2. Richard P. Feynman - I love his writing. I know he's a physicist, but his books were wonderful. He makes physics fun to learn about and his experiences were heartwarming. Surely You're Joking, Feynman!
3. Bruce Coville - This man is one of the main reasons I am an avid reader and writer. I love his books. I love the creativity, the spontaneity, the quirky characters. He's still writing, but it's not the same. What I'm yearning for is his Magic Hat Series, especially Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher.
4. Patricia C. Wrede - Another one of my favorite authors. By now you've probably realized that I basically grew up with Science Fiction / Fantasy authors. And I'm not ashamed. :)
5. Audrey Niffennegger - GIVE ME MORE OF THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE! Sadly, I know she can't. Well, not because she can't. But because the story is completely finished. There is nothing more to tell in the story. The only thing left is for me to re-read the book until the pages become saturated with my tears. I know she's written another book, but this story is just so damn good.
6. J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter. That is the explanation.
7. Philip Pullman - His Dark Materials. The Sally Lockhart Trilogy. I'm still upset he always manages to kill off my favorite characters (it's ok Mr. Pullman, I'll still read your books) but I will forever want more. And there are so many things that I want to happen that can't. Maybe that's why FanFiction was created.
8. Dr. Seuss - Some may be surprised he's on my list but, well, it's Dr. Seuss! Who doesn't love those fun, crazy neon creatures? And it does help that there's SeussLand at Islands of Adventure and I walk by it to get to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Moose Juice and Goose Juice, anyone? Or do you fancy Butterbeer?
9. George Orwell - I still can't believe he wrote 1984 at least 50 years ago. His thoughts, his words, his everything is mesmerizing. Reading 1984 chilled my bones. And now I have Animal Farm to read. He's on this list because of his ideas. and his thought processes.
10. F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Great Gatsby is a wonderful story. Also, who wouldn't love more of F. Scott Fitzgerald? I'd love to meet him, discuss literature over coffee and even see what some of his favorite books were. Sigh.
What was your Top 10 List?
